India had a mixed start in the Paris Olympics 2024. While most of the shooters missed their target on Day 1, Manu Bhaker emerged as the bright spot for the contingent. On the back of an exceptional performance in the qualification round, Bhaker qualified in the 10m Air Pistol final. As the day progressed the favorable outcomes came from the field of hockey and badminton court. In Hockey, India prevailed against New Zealand in the group encounter, and have taken a successful step towards the quarterfinal stage. Shuttlers Lakshay Sen and the pair of Satwik and Chirag were also in action on Day 1. They secured a routine win over their respective opponents. The non-stop action will continue on Day 2 and potentially India will make its mark in the medals' tally today.

Two Medals Up For Grabs For India On Day 2

Shooting, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Rowing, Swimming, etc., will be the focal points again on Day 2. Joining the bracket would be the Archers, who will be in action today and will have a chance to attain history today. Manu Bhaker, who had a brilliant day yesterday, securing 3rd place in the qualification round, will feature in the 10m Air Pistol event final. Considering the way she performed on Day 1, hopes are riding high with her to finish on the top of the podium. Aside from Shooting, Archery will be the discipline where Indian athletes could fetch a medal as both Women's Team Bronze medal and Gold Medal match are scheduled to take place today. So, all eyes will be on Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat, and Bhajan Kaur, who would look to progress from the quarterfinal stage.
