Heading into the Paris Olympics, the expectations from the 117 athletes in Indian Contingent as high as the nation looks to better its highest ever tally of seven medals at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Top Indian athletes that are making their Olympic Debuts
At the Paris Olympics a total of 60 athletes are going to be making their summer games debut for India. Here is a look at the top debutants.
HS Prannoy - Badminton
India's premier shuttler, HS Prannoy at 32 years of age will be making his Olympics debut at Paris. After a career ravaged with injuries and health concerns, Prannoy has stabilised in the last 12 months.
Having already won the Thomas Cup and a medal at the Asian Games, Prannoy will want to make his country proud in Paris.
Nikhat Zareen - Boxing
The expectation from India's premier boxer Nikhat Zareen are sky high as she is one of the favourites to win Gold in Women's 50 KG boxing category in her debut at Summer Games.
Having already won Gold at Women's World Championship in 2022, 2023 and a Gold at Commonwealth Games, Zareen is touted as one of India's best medal hopes.
Sift Kaur Samra - Shooting
Sift Kaur Samra at 22 years of age will be making her Olympics debut for India at Paris Games and will be leading the line in shooting for the nation at Olympics.
Fresh off winning the Gold at Asian Games and smashing the World record, followed by her Bronze medal at ISSF World Cup 2024, she certainly will be hoping to leave Paris with a medal for her nation.
Antim Panghal - Wrestling
Antim Panghal at the age of 19 will be making her Olympic debut in Paris having already won a Bronze medal in Wrestling World Championship and Asian Games. She will face a tough draw at Paris Olympics.
Dhinidhi Desingu - Swimming
At 14 years of age, Dhinidhi Desingu is the youngest athlete in the Indian Contingent for Paris Olympics 2024 and is the second youngest Indian Athlete to feature at the Summer Games.
