Sreeja Akula Crashes Out Of Paris Olympics Pre-Quarters, Collapses Against World No. 1 Sun

India's ace Table Tennis superstar Sreeja Akula crashed out of Women's Singles in Paris Olympics after collapsing to World No. 1 China's Sun Yingsha 4-0. 

Sreeja Akula's dream run at Paris Olympics came to an end as she was devasted after collapsing to defeat in a match that could have turned out a whole lot different.

Sreeja Akula made an excellent start to her Round of 16 match against Sun Yingsha leading the first game by 10-6. However, she couldn't hold her nerve and lost four consecutive game points as the Chinese stole Game 1.

Sreeja seemed to have bounced back in Game 2 as she led 10-5. But once again, Akula failed to hold her nerve and simply collapse loosing 5 game points in a row this time and losing Game 2 as well. Akula was a no match for Sun in Games 3 and 4 as the Chinese proved why she is the World No. 1 and knocked Sreeja Akula out. 

Despite Sreeja Akula's loss her performance and efforts at Paris Olympics 2024 deserve a lot of appreciation as alongside Manika Batra she became the first two Indian Table Tennis players to advance into the Pre-Quarters at Summer Games.

If Sreeja Akula could've won her Game points in the first two games then who knows the result of the match could have been a whole lot different. She lost the match 4-0 but could easily have been up 2-0. 

Sreeja Akula's Paris Olympics campaign hasn't come to an end yet as she would team up with Manika Batra and Archana Girish Kamath at Women's Team match for India against Romania in the Round of 16 on Monday, 5th August.
