‘There’s No Scope for Anything’: Vinesh Phogat’s Uncle Mahavir Reflects on CAS’ Dismissal of Plea
Mahavir Phogat commented on the decision following the dismissal of Vinesh Phogat's plea by the CAS as he expressed regret saying that they have no chance.
Vinesh Phogat's efforts for a joint silver medal have been thwarted after the Court of Arbitration for Sport presented a ruling against the grappler by dismissing her plea. The Indian grappler was found 100 grams overweight during the weigh-ins before the final, which led to her elimination. A medal was confirmed for India, but her elimination cost everything, leading to them putting an appeal to the CAS. Despite all the support from the fans and the IOA, fate did not side with Vinesh, who is set to return to India soon. The grappler's uncle and wrestling mentor, Mahavir Phogat, has offered his thoughts after the CAS' verdict over the wrestler's appeal.

Vinesh Phogat’s Uncle Mahavir Sees No Other Option for the Grappler, Set to Welcome Her Like a Champion
After the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed Vinesh Phogat's plea, her uncle and wrestling mentor Mahavir Phogat spoke out on CAS' move. He expressed that there is no hope for them after the official verdict. But they will be welcoming Vinesh like a gold medalist when she returns to the country on August 17th, 2024.
"We were hopeful that the verdict will be in our favour, but there is no scope for anything after the verdict given by the CAS. When Vinesh returns on the 17th, we will welcome her like a Gold Medalist. We will try to persuade her to prepare for the 2028 Olympics. We will also prepare Sangeeta Phogat and Ritu Phogat for the 2028 Olympics," Mahavir Phogat said to ANI.
