The Paris Olympics officially concluded on Sunday (August 11) at Stade de France. The United States of America topped the medal's tally with 126 medals (40 gold medals, 44 silver and 42 bronze). Interestingly US is the only country to cross the 100 mark.

Hosts France concluded their Olympic with 16 medals. Interestingly, four of them were won by their 21-year-old swimmer Léon Marchand alone. With four gold and one bronze, Marchand has won a total of five medals. The swimmer ended up winning his gold medals in individual events and the bronze in a team event. individual events.

Marchand's gold medals came in  400m individual medley, 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, and 200m individual medley. The French youngster secured the bronze in the 4*100m Medley Relay event. Marchand's achievement is something to take note of as he has bettered the gold medal tally of 184 countries.

Léon Marchand has not only won more medals as compared to 184 countries, but he has also created multiple records. The French swimmer who won more gold medals than Kenya, Norway, Sweden and Ireland created Olympic record in all four events where he won the gold. Since 1976, Marchand became the only swimmer from any country to win two gold medals in a single day. The French Swimmer also became the fourth swimmer ever to win four individual gold medals at the same Olympic Games.
