PKL playoffs: Brief overview of the playoffs scenario for this season
PKL 2019 is only a few days away from the playoffs. As teams are gearing up for the final few matches, here is a list of teams that might also qualify.
PKL 2019 playoffs will be starting from October 14 and will go on till October 19. Matches are scheduled to take place at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, which is also Gujarat Fortunegiants home stadium. The PKL playoffs include two eliminators and two semi-finals. The playoffs will be played on October 14 while the semi-finals will take place on October 19 after a break of two days. Top six teams are to qualify for the playoffs. As per current PKL ranks, Bengal Warriors, Dabang Delhi KC, and Haryana Steelers have already advanced to the PKL playoffs. Three teams are yet to qualify.
For every win, a team is awarded five points, while three points are given for a draw. A defeat by seven or fewer points awards one point, and a loss by seven or more awards no points. For the first Eliminator, the third-ranked and sixth-ranked teams will compete with each other. The fourth-ranked team and the fifth-ranked team will face each other for the Eliminator two. The semi-final 1 will be played between the first Eliminator and the top-ranked team. The Eliminator 2 will meet the second-ranked team. The winners will play for the title two days later.
PKL 2019: Bengaluru Bulls
Currently ranked fourth, Bengaluru Bulls can easily qualify for the playoffs. Till Friday, October 11, Bengaluru has three matches left to play. The team has a total of 58 points right now. To qualify, Bengaluru needs to win at least two games, which will comfortably place them on the third position with 68 points. UP Yoddha, with the same number of points, is Bengaluru’s biggest competition as they have four matches left to go.

UP Yoddha, currently ranked below Bengaluru Bulls, have a higher chance of qualifying for the playoffs with four games left to play. Even if they win two out of their four matches, they will reach a minimum of 68 points. UP Yoddha need to win more games than U Mumba to move ahead in the PKL points table. U Mumba, who is closely flowing UP Yoddha with 54 points, also have four matches to go.

As per the PKL points table, U Mumba is ranked sixth. The Maharashtrian team has to win at least three of their remaining four matches to qualify. A combination of two wins and two ties can also work in the team’s favour. Jaipur Pink Panthers, trailing behind with a total of 52 points, have a slight chance of overtaking U Mumba. If Jaipur wins both their games and Mumbai lose three matches, the former will move up the PKL points table.
