'It is the dream of India to host the 2036 Olympics, we are making preparations': PM Narendra Modi
In his address at the Red Fort on the eve of the nation's 77th Independence Day, PM Modi reaffirmed his goal of bringing the Olympics to India om 2036.
As the 2028 Summer Olympics heads to Los Angeles, all eyes are now on who will have the hosting rights for the 2036 Olympics as the spot remains vacant. India has expressed its desire to host the historic quadrennial event for the first time. With one of the country's most popular games, Cricket, being re-introduced in the next Olympics, India may have their moment in finally hosting it and making history. PM Narendra Modi has been an ardent supporter of bringing the Olympics to India, and he reiterated India's desire during his address at the nation's 77th year of Independence.

PM Narendra Modi re-affirms his motive to bring the 2036 Summer Olympics to India
PM Narendra Modi has made a grand push to make India a sporting hub. With initiatives like Khelo India and encouraging the athletes with every possible financial need, he has helped elevate the Indian athletes to catapult into glory. PM Modi reinforced his aim to bring the 2036 Olympic Games to India during his speech at the Red Fort on the occasion of the country's 77th year of Independence.
"It is the dream of India to host the 2036 Olympics, we are making preparations for that," PM Modi said during his address at Delhi's historic Red Fort.
The Indian Contingent recently featured at the 2024 Paris Olympics with some spectacular performances led by stars like Manu Bhaker, Neeraj Chopra, Aman Sehrawat, Swapnil Kusale, and more. Shooting was on the forefront as Manu clinched two bronze medals and made history. Kusale also secured a bronze in his name. However, the gold medal remained elusive this time and some athlete also sustained narrow misses from a podium finish. All eyes will be in the upcoming Summer Games in 2028 at Los Angeles, where Team India will aim to enhance their standings and secure the coveted medal.
The Athletes who were a part of the Olympic Games were seen at the Red Fort and they were invited to be a part of the 77th Independence Day celebrations.
