He walked into the fight as a clear underdog, and even some of the most prominent experts did not see him as a challenge against Aljamain Sterling. However, Sean O'Malley's heavy right strike became the reason for mass hysteria. In the second round of the main event fight, O'Malley ducked one of Sterling's and in return landed a clear right that grounded Sterling. Once on the ground, Suga Sean got the opportunity to lay hold on Sterling and following some devastating blows, the referee signalled the end of the fight. With it, Sean O'Malley, the once a premier contestant of the Dana White Contender Series, has soared to the ultimate height and become the new UFC Bantamweight Champion

What's next for Sean O'Malley?

After attaining the win, Sean O'Malley remained firm on what he said before the fight and hence reiterated that he wants to fight Marlon Vera next. Chito Vera is the only fighter in UFC, who has a victory over Suga Sean, thus it could be an intriguing battle veneered with the Bantamweight gold. However, other contenders like Cory Sandhagen, Triple C, and Merab Dvalishvili, might fancy revenge for his friend. Moreover, Funk Master might also push for a quick rematch.
