Two European football giants with some extra ordinary football legacy face each other in the quaterfinals of Euro 2024, as Spain to lock horns against Germany.

Spain boast a perfect record at Euro 2024 with all their group match wins for the first time since 2008, in round of 16 they came from behind and thrashed Gerogia 4-1. 

Luis de la Fuente's side with young and experienced mixture of players have dazzled it at this tournament and possess a big threat for the host. 

Since 1998 Spain has not lost any match against Germany, the most recently playing out a 1-1 group-stage draw at the 2022 World Cup, however one record goes against them of, never beating the host nation in the knockout rounds of a Euros or World Cup.

On the other side hosts Germany looks another favourite to win the tournament, beating Denmark 2-0 in round of 16 was one tack done for them, but facing Spain with their young and energetic players will be an uphill task.

Germany tops in the three sections most goals, most attacks and most attempts also with best average ball possession, home crowd is an added advantage for Die Mannschaft and with all these they will be willing to beat Spain here. 

For the big upcoming match, Spain is expected to remain unchanged, going ahead with their young sensation Lamine Yamal, who is expected to joing Nico Williams and Alvaro Morata in the three man attack. 

Spain's midfield comprise with some young talent aswell, Pedri, Fabian Ruiz and Rodri will give stability to their midfield, maintaining ball possession and winning duels when necessary. 

Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella are expected to start for Spain's defence, with Nacho as a substitue option. 

For Germany, a midfield trio of Kroos, Robert Andrich and Ilkay Gundogan is set to remain intact, with Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala taking left and right flank attack. Kai Havertz would be placed as central striker, Julian Nagelsmann also have Niclas Fullkrug as other option to replace Havertz. Considering the last encounter between these two sides, the 50-50 contest could go either way.

  • This will be the fourth meeting between Spain and Germany at the UEFA European Championship, with Spain winning two 1984 and 2008 to Germany’s one 1988.
  • Spain are unbeaten in their last four major tournament matches against Germany W2 D2.
  • Germany have scored 10 goals across their four matches at EURO 2024, which is already their joint-most in a single edition of the UEFA European Championship.
  • Toni Kroos has completed 95% of his passes for Germany at EURO 2024 ,411/431, the highest completion rate by a player to attempt 300+ passes at a UEFA European Championship tournament since 1980.
