IND vs SL: Masked Suryakumar Yadav collects vox pops in the Marine Drive
Recently, Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav dressed up as a cameraman and walked along Mumbai's Marine Drive for some lighthearted prank shooting. This humorous story transpired in preparations for India's 2023 World Cup clash against Sri Lanka, slated at the legendary Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
Suryakumar was seen in a video posted on social media convincingly acting the part of a video journalist on Marine Drive. The middle-order batter went on a series of spontaneous interviews outside the team hotel while wearing a complete shirt and a mask. Teammate Ravindra Jadeja was also seen assuring Suryakumar of his anonymity throughout. Surprised bystanders at Nariman Point saw Suryakumar remove the mask at the last second to expose his real identity.
The Indian Cricket Team recorded this humorous moment and shared it with the world in an Instagram post. The Indian Cricket Team's caption on the Instagram post read:
“Presenting Suryakumar Yadav in a never seen before avatar. What’s our Mr. 360 doing on the streets of Marine Drive.”
Suryakumar Yadav played a key role for India against England
During the first four World Cup matches of India's campaign, Suryakumar Yadav sat on the bench, waiting for his chance. Only in India's ODI World Cup match against New Zealand did the right-handed batsman make his debut. But because of a misunderstanding with Virat Kohli, he was out for just two runs in his debut, making it a short appearance.
Relentless from his first defeat, Suryakumar recovered to win the second game against England. He was instrumental in this important match, chipping in with a critical 49-run inning that helped India reach the 200-run mark. India's combined efforts produced a spectacular win over England, with the hosts winning by a wide margin of 100 runs.
