US Open 2023: Will Carlos Alcaraz break the curse?
While every Grand Slam is unique, the US Open has turned out to be different in the aspect that no champion in the men's singles category has been able to defend his title in the last 15 years. Even the behemoths, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal could not. In the duration, the tournament has witnessed many one-slam winners in the form of Stanislas Wawrinka, Marin Cilic, Dominic Thiem, etc. So, will history repeat this year or will Carlos Alcaraz emerge as the new destiny child?
The 2022 US Open was Alcaraz's maiden Grand Slam and since then he has managed to add the Wimbledon title to the bag, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. Thus, the momentum is riding high with Alcaraz, but will it be enough to conquer another Grand Slam, and thereby break the 15-year-long hoodoo? All to look forward to in the next two weeks.
