'Supports Me Everyday': Jannik Sinner Dedicates US Open Triumph To Terminally Ill Aunt
Jannick Sinner has become the first Italian to win the US Open amid the doping allegations.
Tennis Player Jannik Sinner defeated Taylor Fritz and claimed the US Open title with a 6-4. 6-4,7-5 win. The Italian waived his hands in the air and shared his happiness with the fans inside Arther Ashe Stadium.
Ahead of US Open, Jannik Sinner faced a doping controversy when he tested positive for a banned substance. Sinner avoided an official ban when an independent tribunal accepted his defence that the tests resulted from unintentional contamination.
However, Jannik Sinner managed to put all the controversy behind him and ended up coming up trumps when it mattered the most and won the US Open 2024 crown.
"This title for me means so much; the last period of my career was not easy. There is my team who supports me every day, the people who are close to me," revealed Jannik Sinner post-match.
Jannik Sinner has now become the first Italian male tennis player to win the US Open crown.
The doping charges have definitely disturbed him and hampered his field performance but Jannik didn't let it overwhelm him.
Dedicating Trophy To Aunt
After winning the US Open Sinner dedicated his win to his aunt by mentioning that she is not in good condition and this may be the last celebration of him with her.
“I love tennis, I practice a lot for this kind of stage, but off the court, there is a life. I would like to dedicate this title to my aunt who is really not feeling well health-wise. I don't know how much I'll still have her in my life. I am so fortunate that I can still share a positive moment with her," said an emotional Jannik Sinner.
Ranking at the World number 1 in Singles, Jannik Claimed 16 Singles titles on the ATP tour including Two Grand Slam Trophies (US Open 2024 and Australian Open 2024).
Jannik also finished as a runner-up for the ATP finals and led Itlay to the 2023 Davis Cup title. Defeating Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open 2024 , he then bagged his first-ever Grand Slam title by defeating Daniil Medvedev.
