As per reports, Andy Murray has said that his comeback from career-saving hip surgery was healing better than expected despite losing in the China Open quarter-finals on Friday. Andy Murray was the former number one who underwent major operation in January and returned to the tennis court in August.
Despite the loss, Murray upbeat
Reports suggest that 32-year-old English tennis player lost 6-2, 7-6 (7/3) to top player Dominic Theim in Beijing but later said that he thinks this week was perhaps the best in terms of how he played since he came back. He said that it was great for him that he played three matches in four days which is a lot. He further said that he played three matches in four days which is quite a lot and that he felt better than he expected. On asked whether he was further ahead than he expected his comeback would be he said that Yeah Maybe.
He later said that he is getting there and that current week was better than last week and hopes that next is even better. Reportedly he said that That is how he had to try to keep going to see where his limit is and he does not think that he is at his limit right now. He thinks he can keep improving and that's what the current week has shown him. Murray was up against Austrian Theim who is ranked fifth in the world to the opponent's 503rd. But by then Murray had lost his first game which had mounted pressure on him.
According to reports, there were times when there were shades of the Murray that topped the world rankings in 2016, but the second set started in the same way as the first, the Briton having his serve broken. Murray says that he has no pain in his hip now and now it is a question of building the match fitness, looking down and out as Theim was serving for the match. The 26-year-old Thiem is all set to Karen Khachanov of Russia in the last four.
Murray's upcoming matches
Reports say that from here Murray will go to Shanghai Masters where he shall compete on a tougher ground and admitted to the fact that he was not at a stage as of now to tackle top players. Murray states that he thinks he needs a few more weeks of matches like this, two, three, four matches in a week trying to play in a manner which is consistent.
