Swiss Indoors: Roger Federer earns 1 million Euro, donates to charity

Federer can take home around €1million for just playing at the Swiss Indoors. This amount surpasses the prize money offered for winning any ATP events.

Roger Federer has reportedly received staggering feed to play at Swiss Indoors Basel. According to the reports, their local hero Federer can take home around €1million (£865,000) for just playing at the Swiss Indoors. This amount surpasses the prize money offered for winning any ATP 500 event around the world.

However, Federer claims that he doesn’t get a single penny as he donates his entire week’s earning to his Roger Federer Foundation. He claimed that he still continues to give all his received money from the events. Federer stated that his goal was that the contract will continue automatically as long as he plays. And the organisers and Federer have settled as of now and it is clear for him that he would play here every year as long as he continues to play tennis professionally, the 20-time Grand Slam winner added. Also, he said that the organisers can count on him.

A step towards title

Meanwhile, at the Swiss Indoors, the top-seeded Federer move a step ahead towards his 10 titles at this event after he eased past Moldovan Radu Albot 6-0, 6-3 in the round of 16.

Talking to the British press after his win, he talked about being extremely happy. He stated that Federer had struggled against Radu in Miami and he got his attention there itself. And it was important for him to show a reaction to that match and come out with a proper game plan, he added. He said that he respects Radu as the 29-year-old tries everything to win in a really tough and great and fairway. Federer signed off saying that he had an answer for everything Radu threw at him in this match which was great.
