UFC 244 becomes the second most attended UFC event in New York
UFC 244 brought 20,143 fans into Madison Square Garden which is the 2nd most UFC event attendance in New York, USA. Know more about the PPV and other details.
The UFC 244 put up a massive show for its fans at the Madison Square Garden in New York recently and it turned out to be profitable for the company. It had a super-stacked card with amazing fights while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was there to put the BMF belt on the winner’s waist. US President Donald Trump made UFC 244 a total showdown by appearing in the arena. If this was not enough, UFC 244 made headlines for becoming the second most attended UFC event ever in New York.
UFC 244: The second most attended UFC event in New York
UFC 244 was in talks since its inception and it is evident with the attendance, which went up to 20,143 fans in the arena with an amount of $19 million as gate receipts. However, it could still not beat the UFC 205 card, which was headlined by Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez. UFC 205 was the promotion’s first card in New York and it had three title fights on the line (Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez for lightweight, Tyron Woodley vs Stephen Thompson for welterweight and Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz for the women’s strawweight) as it drew 20,427 fans into the MSG with a whopping amount of $17.7 million. If we compare these two cards, UFC 244 did pretty well and President Dana White is surely happy with it.
Dana White’s UFC
UFC 244 has been all about UFC fans and President Dana White showed no hesitation in arranging everything the fans wanted to see. It seems legitimate that UFC 244 has made such a big amount despite any real title fight included in it and Dana White would surely love to run it back. The main-event fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal was stopped by the doctor after two severe cuts on Nate Diaz’s face. Masvidal got crowned as the BMF but he wants to do it again with Nate Diaz. If it happens again, we might see another accomplishment for UFC in terms of attendance and money-making.
