Virat’s Daughter’s 'Biggest Concern’ at World Cup Final Win, and How Mom Anushka Responded
Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma shared their daughter Vamika's concern for Indian cricketers who were touched with emotions after defeating South Africa.
Barbados: As the wait of 11 years finally ended on Saturday with team India lifting an ICC Trophy (T20 World Cup 2024), cricketing legend and former India captain Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma shared their daughter Vamika's concern for Indian cricketers who were touched with emotions after defeating South Africa.
India clinched victory from the jaws of defeat as they successfully defended 176 to defeat South Africa and lift the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy at the Kensington Oval on June 29.
Anushka took to Instagram to share Vamika's concern, about whether all the players had someone to hug them after seeing them cry on the television.
“Our daughter’s biggest concern was if all the players had someone to hug them after she saw them cry on TV….. Yes, My darling, they were hugged by 1.5 billion people. What a phenomenal victory and what a legendary achievement!! CHAMPIONS - CONGRATULATIONS!!” posted Anushka.
Kohli Announces Retirement
After India's T20 World Cup Triumph, Virat Kohli, Player of the Match in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, announced his retirement from the format. In one of the most thrill-filled defending matches, India could log 176 on the scoreboard only after Kohli and Axar Patel's 76 and 47 knock, respectively.
“This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve,” Kohli told the broadcast after India’s win in a global tournament after 11 years.
“One day you feel like you can't get a run and this happens, God is great. (It is) just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup."
Kohli anchored the innings with a match-winning 59-ball 76 with two sixes and six fours to lift India from a precarious 34 for three inside the powerplay, to a formidable 176 for seven, the cornerstone of India's 7-run victory over South Africa.
At the end of his glorious career, Virat Kohli finished like a champion with a tally of 4188 in 125 matches at an average of 48.69.
