Ex-WWE star Chris Jericho reveals the reason why he joined AEW
AEW world champion Chris Jericho was recently interviewed in a podcast where he shed some light on the circumstances leading to his departure from the WWE.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) world champion Chris Jericho was recently interviewed at a wrestling podcast where he shed some light on the circumstances leading to his departure from the WWE in recent times. Jericho started off by talking about the event leading up to WrestleMania 33. He revealed that he was originally supposed to fight the then Universal Champion Kevin Owens for the title at the main event of WrestleMania.
Jericho revealed that the whole storyline between him and Owens was well crafted and was supposed to get concluded at WrestleMania but it was cut short when Lesnar decided to fight Goldberg at the main event. WWE officials then decided to keep the rematch of Brock Lesnar and Goldberg at the greatest stage of all times, so the belt was switched to Goldberg at Fastlane and Jericho vs. Owens was scraped off. Jericho felt insulted with the treatment he received, which made him consider quitting WWE.
AEW: Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes contract signing
Just a few weeks away from their anticipated match in the upcoming PPV, Jericho and Cody Rhodes met each other in the recent episode of AEW to sign contracts. Cody signed the papers first and praised the AEW champ for what he has achieved. Jericho reacted by trash-talking Cody and all the people in the audience. Jericho then took his hand forward and sook Cody’s hand. After the contract signing got over, Jericho’s Inner Circle teammate Jake Hager was seen attacking Cody’s brother Dustin Rhodes in the parking lot. Jake Hager slammed Rhodes to a car before slamming the door on his arm. Cody and MJF arrived on the scene to save Rhodes after hearing his scream.
