Former WWE Champion Bryan Danielson Reflects Upon The Time He Criticized Vince McMahon On Live TV

Former WWE Champion and Current AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson opened up about his time back in the WWE when he was doing his Planet's Champion gimmick. During this gimmick he would carry around a brown wooden version of the WWE Championship while preaching sustainability to fans and other wrestlers alike. In an interview on the show ‘Inside The Ropes’, Danielson has revealed that he once criticized then WWE CEO Vince McMahon on live television and to his surprise, Vince passed it off. Bryan revealed that he enjoyed the promo as he shared his genuine negative feelings about Vince.

Daniel Speaks About Criticizing Vince On Live TV

While speaking to Kenny Mcintosh, Danielson revealed details of how the iconic promo came to be. 

“So, the one that I was really surprised by, and I actually got invited to speak at Rutgers University after this promo. I did an interview with AJ Styles and Vince, and I said in the promo that Vince's generation is the real problem of everything and they bowed down to him. I was surprised they let me say any of that, because these concepts were my ideas, but then we still had to pitch it. There is still a format and a script. He was like, Yeah, ok. I was like really, I can say all this?” said Bryan as he recalled the interaction between himself and Vince McMahon regarding the script of the promo. 

Danielson Opens About His Time As Eco-Friendly Champion 

Bryan Danielson opened about his time in the WWE when he was the Planet's Champion and carried around the eco-friendly WWE Championship. 

“I had so much fun, that was so much fun. Because, you know, we all have different aspects of our personality, right? There is very much a part of me that is like the Planet’s Champion. Except instead of putting that scorn on other people, I don't look at people and be like you should be doing this, or you should be doing this. I look at myself and think I should be doing this, I should be doing that, I shouldn't be consuming so much. So it's like yeah, all that stuff that was twisted on the American fans was actually my own self loathing,” said Bryan Danielson laughing.
