Hall of Fame wrestler reveals he was embarrassed by WWE's offer, says it was 'a slap in the face'
Sgt. Slaughter, the WWE Hall of Famer, confirmed the rumors that WWE offered him a return, but he declined the offer as he thought the pitch was undermining.
WWE has often brought back some of the legendary figures in wrestling to boost up some ratings or at times when they need them to help elevate a wrestler's character. They have done it with JBL when they had to elevate Baron Corbin. One similar instance arose up when WWE had superstar Lacey Evans and they intended to do a re-package. To do so, WWE had plans to pair her up with WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter, but he denied the offer. The HOFer finally broke his silence on what really happened that time.

WWE Hall of Famer reveals the offer he received for a return was a slap on his face
WWE Hall of Famer and legend 90s wrestling legend Sgt. Slaughter opened up on the offer from WWE he received during an appearance with Busted Open Radio. He verified the veracity of the rumours that he received an offer from WWE to take on the role of manager for former WWE Superstar Lacey Evans. He rejected it because he thought the offer amounted to a personal jab.
“They wanted me to come in and manage her, but I saw the contract and I said ‘This is a slap in the face. I should be given a billion-dollar contract just for what I did for your company. But then you send me a contract that I wouldn’t have wiped my butt with it if I was that kind of guy…
’As a professional, I just called and said ‘I’m not interested, but if you want to come up with a little bit more money that would allow me to retire from this business, then I’ll think about coming back. But until then, I’m not coming back.’,” Sgt. Slaughter revealed.

The WWE Hall of Famer further revealed that he also took issue when the WWE made Lacey Evans use the Cobra Clutch, which was his signature move during his time in the promotion.
“So that’s when I put my foot down and said [to WWE] ‘Hey, I own that move.’ I don’t want you to use it anymore.’ I didn’t mean to be mean or hurt her, I just said ‘That’s not what the Cobra Clutch is supposed to be. It’s supposed to be the end of it. That’s the end of the story.’ Just like ‘Hey D-Von; get the tables.’ That’s the end of the story,” he revealed.
Eventually, the plan with Lacey to portray a knockoff version of Sgt. Slaughter failed and the WWE did not renew her contract, letting her go.
