John Cena pledges to donate $500,000 to California firefighters

WWE wrestler turned actor, John Cena, said he will be donating $500,000 to the firefighters battling the California wildfires. In a video that he posted on his official Twitter handle, Cena reportedly stated that in situations like these when people are giving their lives and working 24/7 to ensure the safety of everyone around them, we need to give something in return and that is the right thing to do.

A noble gesture

The 12 Rounds actor made the promise of donating half a million dollars in honor of his upcoming comedy movie, Playing With Fire, which has a story that will revolve around a team of firefighters given the task of babysitting three young siblings. 
Cena asked the company, Paramount Players, producing the film to find a charity as soon as possible that aids the first responders.

California is in a dire state

Cena said that the state of California is in a dire state and it is burning. It is plagued by massive wildfires all around the state which means that the firefighters are working round the clock and need everyone's help. The Hollywood actor also asked his fans to help him by donating money to help the fire responders.

Los Angeles Lakers player, LeBron James, who was one of the celebrities forced to evacuate his home, pitched in to help the fire responders by sending a Taco truck for them.

One of the most recent and the devastating incidents of wildfires is the Getty Fire incident which started near the Getty Center Museum had already burned 656 acres of land and according to the officials have stated that the cause of the fire was a tree branch falling on the power lines. According to reports, the wildfires in California have forced more than 200000 people to flee their homes and have last more than 2.5 million people with power.
