John Cena set to star alongside Robert Downey Jr in 'Dolittle'

John Cena will star alongside Robert Downey Jr. and an all-star menagerie for Universal Studios’ live-action/animation hybrid, “The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.” Downey announced on Twitter that Cena will be playing a polar bear named Yoshi in the forthcoming film, which also stars such luminaries as Emma Thompson, Selena Gomez, Craig Robinson, Ralph Fiennes, Octavia Spencer and Tom Holland.

Robert Downey Jr's Tweet:

The first official trailer for the new film was launched on Monday. Dolittle is scheduled to release on January 17, 2020. Cena was delighted as he shared the trailer on Twitter saying that he was honoured to be included in such an amazing group and for such an epic tale.

After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen (Buckley) falls gravely sick, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures.

The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Collett) and a raucous coterie of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla (Malek), an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck (Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich (Nanjiani) and an upbeat polar bear (Cena) and a headstrong parrot (Thompson), who serves as Dolittle’s most trusted advisor and confidante.
