'Sun's setting on that chapter': John Cena admits stark reality, speaks freely about WWE retirement

As every best thing eventually comes to an end, former WWE Champion John Cena's career is also heading that way. The 16-time World Champion recently talked about his potential retirement again and reiterated that his best days are past him. Moreover, he also admitted that Sun is setting on his WWE career.

John Cena speaks about his retirement  

After over two decades as a prominent figure in WWE, John Cena's wrestling career is approaching its conclusion. In a recent interview with People, the actor and wrestler reflected on his imminent retirement while discussing his current fitness regimen.

"I know my WWE journey is coming to an end, but fitness was a part of my life long before the WWE journey started," Cena said. "Fitness will be a part of my life, hopefully as long as my heart's beating. So the WWE has been a great chapter in my life — it's year 23 for me — and the sun's setting on that chapter in the book, but fitness will never not be a part of my life."

The former WWE Champion chose not to provide specific details regarding a retirement date or final match. Although Cena had previously indicated that reaching the age of 50 would naturally mark the end of his career, at 47, he later reconsidered those statements, suggesting he might retire even sooner. However, Cena emphasized that this decision is unrelated to his physical well-being.

"I feel as if I am operating at my best," Cena continued. "I would say from a spirit of [mind] and a body standpoint, ... I'm the best I've been in all 47 of my years on this earth."

John Cena was last seen inside the squared circle of WWE at WrestleMania 40. Cena was a part of the Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes match and came to rescue Rhodes from Solo Sikoa. He had a face-off with The Rock as well, who delivered a Rock Bottom to him.
