WWE Crown Jewel: Stars kept hostage by Saudi prince in Saudi Arabia?

It’s been almost a week since WWE Crown Jewel took place in Saudi Arabia, but the controversy surrounding the PPV is far from over. WWE Crown Jewel was headlined by Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez along with fantastic match-ups between boxer Tyson Fury vs Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins vs ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. But one of the biggest events of Saudi Arabia didn't go smoothly as WWE cut the feed to the event as the country had failed to pay the company for the broadcast, according to wrestling commentator, Hugo Savinovich.

According to many reports, Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman allegedly retaliated to WWE’s move by delaying their plane which was supposed to take almost 175 superstars back home. Because of the delay, many superstars were not able to arrive on SmackDown which led WWE to create new storylines. Some also say that the Prince ordered the flight crew to somehow make the WWE wrestlers wait for more than six hours so that they could not make it to Buffalo on time.

Talking about the same, Wrestler Karl Anderson took to Twitter and wrote that he won’t be going back to Saudi Arabia. Anderson’s wife replied to his story and hinted that the superstars were held hostage in some way during the time of the delay. She also revealed that she was at home and worrying to death for her husband.

Saudi Arabia pays off the debt amount to WWE

According to WWE co-President George Barrios, the company was supposed to get the “outstanding” $60 million receivables before September 30, 2019, but the country was not able to deliver it on time. That was the reason why WWE cut the feed of Crown Jewel as the country had failed to pay WWE for the broadcast. However, in the recent interview, Barrios has revealed that WWE has received all the money from Saudi Arabia. WWE also announced that they will keep on doing two shows every year in Saudi Arabia.
