Apple adds iPhone XS Max, other popular products to vintage and obsolete list

Apple's list of vintage and obsolete products now includes six more devices, including the iPhone XS Max and the Apple Watch Series 2. The iPhone maker updates its list every six months, adding devices that have been out of distribution for either over five years, less than seven years, or beyond seven years. Earning the vintage title also makes a device more of a collection item than a product to be used regularly.New vintage and obsolete productsFirst spotted by MacRumors, Apple has added two devices to the vintage list and four to the obsolete list. The iPhone XS Max and the iPhone 6s Plus are now Apple's vintage products. However, it is interesting to see both iPhones joining the list simultaneously since they were launched three years apart. It could be due to the iPhone 6s Plus being one of Apple's longest-selling devices. The iPhone XS Max was launched in 2018 but stopped selling a year later. On the other hand, the iPhone 6s Plus, which debuted in 2015, continued to be on the market for sale until 2018.A product is considered obsolete when Apple has stopped distributing it for sale over seven years ago. That means Apple no longer supports hardware services for the product and its service providers cannot order different replacement components. However, MacBooks are an exception since their battery repairs and replacements are supported for up to 10 years from the date of the sale distribution.
