Amazon is gearing up for the Great Indian Festival sale - the company's annual sale that counters Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale. Not so coincidentally, both - Amazon Great Indian Festival sale and Flipkart Big Billion Days sale are starting on September 29. Ahead of the Great Indian Festival sale, Amazon has partnered with Indian Railways to let customers allow pickups at suburban stations in Mumbai. As a result of this initiative, Amazon customers can pick up their shipments at various local stations across Mumbai and nearby suburbs. This pickup imitative by Amazon and Indian Railways will go live as a pilot across four railway stations - Mumbai CSMT, Dadar, Thane and Kalyan.
How will it work
As a result of this collaboration with Indian Railways, Amazon will set up kiosks within railway stations. With the initiative, Amazon aims to provide customers with hassle-free customer service, courtesy of these kiosks. Meanwhile commenting on this initiative, Amazon's Prakash Rochlani who is serving as Director of Last Mile Transportation at the company, had this to say:
"As a customer-obsessed company, we are constantly leveraging our resources and technology to build initiatives that are grounded in customer convenience," said Rochlani. "We are excited about our partnership with the Indian Railways because it will help us provide an easy and convenient service for customers via these pickup kiosks when they are in transit every day."
Amazon Great Indian Festival sale
Amazon is hosting its 6-day limited-period Great Indian Festival sale starting September 29. Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale. Although the sale will start from midnight, Prime users will get early access starting noon. Interested customers can expect a wide range of deals and discounts on products across different categories, including consumer electronics, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and grocery products, etc.

Similar to Amazon, Flipkart is also hosting Big Billion Days sale between September 29 to October 4. During the sale, Flipkart hopes to see over five lakhs of sellers and brands offering discounts across categories. Recently, Flipkart on-boarded 27,000 Kirana shops.
