TiVo, a digital video recorder (DVR) company, plans to launch apps for streaming devices like Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV sometime this year. New TiVO apps will let users watch live or recorded video on multiple TVs without having to buy a separate TiVo Mini box. Report has it that these apps will be launched sometime in the second or third quarter this year.
TiVo previously launched a limited-period beta app for Fire TV. So we can safely assume that Vivo would announce its app for Fire TV sooner than expected. Last year, TiVo announced the Bolt OTA offering recording capabilities to TiVo. As a result, it plugs into an over-the-air (OTA) TV antenna instead of a cable box.
These new apps should be good for those relying on streaming media boxes instead of traditional cable. Unlike Bolt OTA, these apps shouldn't cost users anything extra.
