Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter) is changing the way Blocked feature works on its platform. Up until now, users couldn't see the posts of other users or interact with their accounts if they had been blocked by them. But now, X is changing that. With X's latest update, users will be able to see all the posts made by another account even if they have been blocked by them.

"The block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, public post," Elon Musk wrote in a post on X.

But Block feature isn't all gone

That said, X isn't removing the Block feature from its platform completely. Instead, it will be used for blocking users from interacting with the account that they have been blocked from.

To recall, Elon Musk has never been in favour of having a Block button on X. In a post on X last year, Musk had said that having the Block button on X 'made no sense' except for DMs.

Following up on Musk's mandate, X's Engineering team tweaked the Block button earlier this year. "If a user who has blocked you replies to one of your posts, you will now be able to see their reply," X wrote on the platform.

Now, the company has made further changes to the feature.

Block button will still function in DMs

More recently, X rolled out the Block button on its platform for DMs. The feature prevents an account from sending a user message if they have been blocked by them.

How to block a user in DMs on X

Step 1: Open the X app or access X on a web browser.
Step 2: Now open the Direct Messages section.
Step 3: Open the conversation with the user you want to block messages from.
Step 4: Tap on the username or avatar of user you want to block.
Step 5: Select the option labeled Block messages from username.
