Facebook Messenger now lets users make HD video calls, suppress noise during calls: How to use
Meta has rolled out a major update to Facebook Messenger that improves the video calling experience on the platform. Here's what's new in the app.
Facebook Messenger update: Meta has rolled out major improvements to Facebook Messenger's video calling feature. The company today anounced a host of new features including AI Backgrounds, HD Video Calls and Noise Suppression to name a few, that are aimed at improving the overall video calling experience on the platform.

Meta today announced an AI Backgrounds feature for Facebook Messenger that will enable users to generate images using Meta AI that can be used as background during video calls. To use this feature, users will have to tap the Effects icon during a video call, type in the description for the image that they want to use as the background and then select the image from the list of AI-generated images.

In addition to this, Meta has rolled out HD video calls feature for Messenger. This feature will improve the overall video quality during a video call. Meta says that HD quality will be enabled by default for video calls made on Wi-Fi. However, users will have to enable it manually during a call made using cellular data. To enable this feature, users will have to go to the Settings menu and toggle on the 'Mobile data for HD video' feature.

Meta has also rolled out background noise suppression and voice isolation features giving users access to clearer sound during video calls. These features can be enabled within the Call Settings in Messenger.

Lastly, Meta has also introduced audio and video messaging features in Messenger. Meta says that with this feature, users will be able to leave an audio or a video voice message when their friends don't pick up a call. Users can simply tap the Record Message button on the call screen to leave an audio message for unanswered audio calls or a video message for unanswered video calls.
