Google now allows users to search for 'key moments' inside a video

Jumping to specific, relevant sections of the video on Google has become really simple. Google has announced a new feature that helps users find a particular section of the video through Search. Meaning, users need not watch the entire video only to watch a specific part of the video they were looking for. Google rolled out a new update to Search. It could be helpful, mainly when you search for long videos like a documentary, events or speeches.
How it works
This will likely be more helpful when users are searching for How-to videos that involve multiple steps. Google Search will provide links to key moments within the video. Search section links are based on timestamps provided by content creators. If YouTubers and content creators want to benefit from this new update, they need to add relevant timestamps to their videos. This feature will also be helpful for those users who use screen readers.
"You can find key moments within videos and get to the information you’re looking for faster, with help from content creators," said Prashant Baheti, Product Manager, Search.
These links to key moments will appear in Search in English for YouTube videos. However, content creators have to provide timestamp information in the video description. This way, the company wants to help content creators make their videos more searchable on Google. YouTubers and content creators worldwide can soon start providing timestamps on their videos so that users can find the relevant sections on Google search.
"We look forward to more creators adopting this helpful new feature," Baheti added.
Recently at IFA 2019, Google showcased a whole new line-up of products supporting its virtual assistant. In addition to the set of existing products, Google also brought the Assistant to some new speakers, headphones, TVs, smart home appliances, among other devices, including phones. Google appears to be focusing primarily on IoT-enabled home devices.
