Google Photos for Android has now reached version 4.8, following which the app is now tipped to deliver some new features to Android users, according to a new Android Headlines report. Although Google Photos 4.8 update didn't bring anything drastically different or remarkable, its app teardown hints at the arrival of automatically suggested sharing option. The teardown, however, doesn't reveal much with regards to its exact functionality or what the feature is going to be all about.

Suggested sharing option already exists inside Google Photos. To recall, suggested sharing feature was announced back in 2017. If the report is anything to go by, Google could be planning to add introduce an upgrade to its existing suggested sharing feature or entirely new feature altogether. The app code reveals, this feature is internally called “peoplekit” at the company.

From its description, this feature is expected to count on AI to track users' interaction with the app and suggest sharing accordingly. In addition to suggested sharing, the app teardown reveals Google's plans to connect users with other Google-made products in the navigation drawer. Google Photos already has a photo scanner app called PhotoScan. The code also reveals more such links may be coming soon. For example, Google's photo-editing app Snapseed could get linked to Google Photos future updates.

Last year, Google Photos received quite a few interesting features like "Live Albums" to automatically keep albums updated with photos of a specific person or pet. Google Photos also stopped offering free storage for unsupported videos in December.

In a realted news, new sharing menu and Dark Mode for Google Photos could also be in works.
