Teachers’ Day 2019 Google doodle is undoubtedly creative but does not feature the Indian genius and the second Indian President Dr S Radhakrishnan whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day (aka Teachers Day) in India. Doodling the great personality could have also been a tribute. At this point in time, Google’s latest doodle features an Octopus that puts on many hats akin to a teacher. We think that a depiction of Dr Radhakrishnan could have been perfect.

Nonetheless, clicking on the doodle takes users to global Teachers’ Day details along with that of articles from India related to Teachers Day (Teachers Day greetings, et al). The Indian context of Dr Radhakrishnan's birthday is also mentioned here. At this point in time, it is worth remembering that Google’s intense focus on India was manifested through its recent doodles. These even brought to light relatively lesser-known Indian personalities having contributed immensely to society. The most recent illustration of this aspect is the Google doodle on Punjabi poet Amrita Pritam whose works could potentially find a wider global audience courtesy Google highlighting the Jnanpith awardee through the doodle. Likewise, in 2017, Google doodled Kannada superstar Dr Rajkumar ad brought to light the actor’s contribution to Indian cinema. Hence, a doodle on Dr Radhakrishnan would have been ideal on Teachers Day. In this regard, check out below multiple notable tweets by netizens wishing both their teachers as well as Dr Radhakrishnan on social media:
