In fact, over the last few days, many Ola and Uber customers in Mumbai and Bengaluru are clueless about the sudden lack of availability of cabs on the road. So what could be the reason behind such a severe shortage of cabs from these two important ride-hailing companies in India?

We are learning that one of the main reasons behind this could be a growing disappointment among drivers over income cuts and changes in incentives. Such issues have led to protests by Ola and Uber drivers in the past. But the recent protest by Ola and Uber drivers was caused due to a ban on surge pricing during odd-even scheme in Delhi.

How does this impact commuters

Less number of cabs running on the road means more, longer wait time for commuters. The shortfall of drivers not only hurts the reputation of these companies but also causes serious disruption to their existing, on-demand service, which is the backbone of these ride-hailing companies.

Two of the major cities currently experiencing the storage of cabs are Mumbai and Bengaluru. Commuters in Delhi are also experiencing a shortage of Ola, Uber cabs. The situation is similar to the #LogOut campaign against food delivery app Zomato over its deep-discounting scheme called Zomato Gold.
