PUBG addiction among children is becoming a headache for parents

Craze about PUBG among children is turning out to be a huge concern for parents. According to Deccan Herald, some schools in Bengaluru have started raising alarm about the adverse effects of pro-longed PUBG sessions. School authorities started warning parents against PUBG after cases of PUBG addiction was noticed and the ill-effects of continuously playing the game for hours cropped up.

These warnings have been initiated by Schools after cases were reported to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). The report has it that the Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Private Schools Karnataka (KAMS) will issue advisory, asking parents to keep the hours spent by their children on PUBG under control. The report quoted KAMS as saying:

“We will ask our member schools to write to parents about this. We have, in the past, had discussions with the education department on imposing restricts on the number of hours a child spends playing such games.”

It comes only days after PUBG won the Best Game of 2018 title on Google Play Store. To recall, PUBG Mobile reached 100 million downloads milestone as of August 2018, in addition to over 30 million daily active players.

The unmatched popularity of the game has led to extreme addiction to the game leaving parents of the children concerned for the health of their child. Mumbai-based Psychiatrist, Dr. Nahid Dave has seen an increase in the number of patients or concerned parents turning up in order to treat addiction to gaming. She says:

“There has been a definite increase, especially in relation to the game PUBG. But I don’t think it (addiction) is limited to this game. Earlier it was with another game called Counter-Strike. Now it is PUBG.”

Dr. Dave further added:

“It's not limited to children, the addiction is seen starting with 6 years old and 30-32 years old are also hooked onto the game.”
