Photo-messaging app Snapchat has finally released its rebuilt app for Android with an aim to boost its performance to the level of its iOS counterpart. In a nutshell, it doesn't bring any major changes in terms of the user interface (UI) or how Android users navigate or interact with the app. However, the latest version is expected to be comparatively faster than the previous version of Snapchat for Android.

The rebuilt Snapchat for Android is primarily designed to leverage the diversity of the Android ecosystem where a different OEMs have a different set of hardware and software capabilities to offer. The move is likely to boost the app's performance in terms of its camera and processing capabilities and keep all its functions running smoothly on different devices.

"With this new foundation, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually see things starting to come to Android even before iOS sometimes," Snapchat's Vice President of Product, Jacob Andreou said in a statement.
