Reliance Jio is now reportedly letting viewers watch content from SunNxt. The content streaming service offers content from South India such as movies. This service competes with the likes of Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Zee5. SunNxt, like Amazon Prime, even obtains the required rights to screen South Indian movies to viewers.
The SunNXT-Jio integration
As per a TelecomTalk report, the latest integration between Reliance Jio and SunNxt is now resulting in a new section calledSunNXT within the JioCinema application. If you use JioCinema, do check out this new section that exclusively displays South Indian movies. Languages include all the four South Indian languages viz Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, along with Bengali.
This could be useful for audiences preferring to watch movies from South India in their original languages, rather than having to deal with Hindi-dubbed versions which more often than not do not convey the message of a movie in a wholesome manner. For the uninitiated, SunNXT is owned by the Sun network. These are now integrated to both prepaid as well as postpaid users in India.
In related news, Reliance Jio has become the first telecom operator in India to levy IUC on customers making calls to non-Jio networks across the country. This is in compliance with TRAI’s ruling of 6 paise per minute imposition of IUC. Other incumbent telcos, for now, have stayed clear of levying IUC on customers. Jio has also come up with customized All-In-Pone recharge packs starting at Rs 222 that offer limited IUC minutes as well as the regular Jio benefits. In this Rs 333 scheme, there is 1000 free IUC minutes apart from free Jio calls and daily data ranging up to 2GB per day along with free SMS messages. In this regard, IUC has become a hot topic of discussion in the Indian telecom circle.
