A viral TikTok video shot in Delhi's Jama Masjid has caused a massive controversy as the administration imposed a ban on tourists from entering the premises.
Here's what happened
In the wake of viral TikTok videos shot in Delhi's Jama Masjid are making rounds on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, the administration of Delhi's Jama Masjid has put up a notice preventing tourists from entering the premises. However, the notice allowed people visiting for the prayer.
The viral TikTok video showed two foreigners dancing to film songs inside the mosque causing a fresh controversy. Of late, the TikTok app and videos circulating through its platform have become the topic of heated debates and arguments in India and this recent controversy is only going to add fuel to the fire.
The mosque PRO, however, said the video is very old and it is being circulated to create controversy. According to some fresh reports, the administration has been making the announcement about the video-sharing app being banned in the Masjid premises every hour.
What's more, a team of 10 has also been patrolling the area to stop people from recording TikTok videos inside the masjid premises.
Recently, two men from Haryana were arrested for recording a TikTok video while for dancing to Punjabi songs in the Golden Temple complex.
The incident came to light after the viral TikTok video made rounds on social media and a police complaint was lodged after the matter was brought to the notice of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) authorities.
The SGPC authorities have already banned the videography in the Golden Temple complex. Earlier, three girls recorded a TikTok video in the Golden Temple. The apology was sought after the SGPC authorities raised objections.
Last month, the Madras High Court had imposed an interim ban on TikTok over concerns of "pornographic and inappropriate content" being made available through it. However, the ban was later lifted.
TikTok owner ByteDance plans to invest $1 billion in India over the next three years and increase the number of employees in India to 1,000 persons by the end of this year.
