Apple AirPods 4 launched with Adaptive Audio, starts at Rs 12,900

Apple introduced the new generation of AirPods at the “It's Glowtime” event. Called the AirPods 4, the new truly wireless earbuds from Apple feature gesture moves for taking calls using Siri, powered by an H2 chip. The AirPods 4 look similar to their predecessors, but the company says the design will offer more convenience to users. Its highlighted features include Transparency Mode, Conversation Mode, Voice Isolation, and Adaptive Audio.

The new AirPods 4 cost Rs 12,900 ($129 in the US) for the regular and Rs 17,900 ($179 in the US) for the ANC model. The sale begins September 20 from Apple Store and Apple Store Online, while the pre-orders are now open.

During the event, Apple said the AirPods 4 are built on technologies the previous versions have offered to offer users the best sound quality. That means the AirPods 4 supports Dolby Atmos, among other technologies such as USB-C and wireless charging. The earbuds come with louder case speakers, which make a sound when you locate the case using the Find My network. The AirPods 4 offer up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case. It has Adaptive Audio, which customises the sound signature according to the ear of the wearer.

The AirPods 4 also brings Active Noise Cancellation in an open-ear design in a separate model. This model also uses the H2 chip along with “advanced computational audio” to reduce environmental noises like airplane engines and city traffic, among others. It also features Transparency Mode, which when accessed through Adaptive Audio offers a personalised ANC to users. The Conversation Awareness feature lowers the media's volume as soon as the user starts speaking to someone nearby. In addition to USB-C port charging, the AirPods 4 also supports wireless charging through a Qi-certified charger.
