A new teaser by Xiaomi clearly hints that the “smarter living” device slated to be launched on 17 September would be a water purifier. This new teaser depicts water filling up a glass and this water is also depicted as being purified (possibly through a device). Here, Xiaomi also added the tagline of “Every drop counts,”. This water purifier would be exclusive as far as launch in India is concerned.
Mi Smart Water Purifier
Key technical specifications of the Mi Water Purifier are yet to even surface at this point in time. But, we expect this device to incorporate the latest Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification technology. At this point in time, even before the Mi Smart Water Purifier is slated to be showcased officially and launched on 17 September, Xiaomi loyalists have already expressed expectations about a low-priced yet feature-filled Water Purifier characteristic of Xiaomi properties to be launched. These expectations are certainly not exaggerations considering the fact that Xiaomi does keep pricing as a criteria for its products. In this regard, do check out certain Twitterati social media reactions regarding expectations about the Mi Water Purifier:

Finally, it is worth remembering that there is a Mi Water Purifier in China. This comes with the RO water purification mechanism. This has seemingly got people; even the non-Xiaomi loyalists interested. Hence, it should not hurt for Xiaomi to maintain the pricing of the Mi Water Purifier competitive.
