In a seemingly big relief, Windows 10 has eliminated the pesky “Safely Remove Hardware” warning that displayed if you tried to randomly unplug USB/flash drives attached to your computers running Windows 10. This also seems to be a new feature called Quick Removal.
The Quick Removal functionality is present within the WIndows 10 1809 update that was seeded last year, but in wider practice now requiring manual enabling. To manually enable Quick Removal functionality to ensure that you do not get to look at the bothersome “Safely Remove Hardware” warnings, then follow the below steps:
- Once you interface your flash/USB drive to your computer right click Start
- Then choose File Explorer
- Once in File Explorer, check out the label that is applicable to your removable device
- Right click on Start and then choose Disk Management
- Right click on the label of your removable device and select Properties
- Select Policy and choose the Quick Removal option.
“Windows cannot cache disk write operations. This may degrade system performance,” add folks at Microsoft in an official Support page.
Try this now, in case you are frustrated with the “Safely Remove Hardware” message that pops up everytime you attempt to angrily unplug your removable device from the computer.
