Netflix will no longer work on these devices starting next month

Netflix will stop working on some of the older Samsung smart TVs starting next month. Samsung announced that some of its older smart TVs won't be able to stream Netflix content starting December 1. If you own one of those older or should we say early Samsung smart TV models, the ones that are compatible with the Netflix app to so that they can stream Netflix content including TV shows, movies and documentaries? However, starting next month, that will no longer be the case whatsoever. Here's everything you need to know.

What's the problem?

Samsung has put up a new announcement on its official website confirming that Netflix will no longer be working on some of its devices. Here's what Samsung has to say:

"Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be supported on 2010 and 2011 TVs beginning on December 1st, 2019. If you have one of the affected models, you may see a message on your TV indicating that Netflix will no longer be available on this device. You'll still be able to watch Netflix on your TV by connecting another device with Netflix on it."

Affected devices

Samsung says some of the older smart TV models from 2010 and 2011, with C or D after the screen size in the model code, will no longer support Netflix directly beginning December 1st, 2019. However, it says, many other devices that provide users with extended support to Netflix content will still be supported on older TVs. "As long as you have one of the supported devices, like a game console, streaming media player, or set-top box, you'll still be able to watch Netflix on your TV," Samsung adds.

What's the solution?

Samsung says that despite "technical limitations," affected Samsung smart TV models can still continue to stream Netflix content -- with the help of TV streaming dongles like Chromecast, Amazon Stick, etc. Here's the list of compatible devices that can help users stream Netflix content on Samsung's older smart TV models in spite of technical limitations: Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, etc. It also supports game consoles such as Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One.
