Robot Rashmi at 93.5 RED FM: Humanoid Officially Starts Hosting Programs for Humans

The FM station having the frequency 93.5 and termed Red FM is now letting a robot radio jockey called Robot Rashmi anchor radio shows thereby acting as a humanoid radio jockey. This development is official and listeners of 93.5 RED FM should by now have begun to hear the voice of Radio Rashmi. In fact, the humanoid has already started anchoring shows. For starters, Robot Rashmi has a dedicated segment called “Ask Rashmi” where the robot answers listeners’ queries while interacting with them through telephone calls. Folks at RED FM have stated that listeners could pose questions and receive answers in the Hindi language (Robot Rashmi also converses in English, Marathi, and Bhojpuri), on a range of topics viz environment, politics, and road safety; which on paper are all relevant societal themes. The humanoid radio jockey Robot Rashmi has been conceptualized and developed by Ranjit Srivastava, based on Sofia which is an artificial intelligence unit serving a variety of purposes in Hong Kong. Hence, if you are not a Red FM listener as well, do tune in between 10 AM - 11 AM and 5 PM - 6 PM to listen to Robot Rashmi who hosts shows along with human radio jockeys. Gauging the robot in the video, it is clearly evident that the voice hard during the radio broadcast would clearly come off as a robot’s; an enhanced human touch could potentially serve as value additions. At this time, with robots as the focal point, it becomes natural to ponder over the fact about robots replacing human radio jockeys at radio stations. To this, Robot Rashmi has a reply when “she” stated that human emotions can never be replicated and in a radio station human emotions would naturally connect; which cannot be replicated by humanoid emotions. Hence, humanoids could only augment and add “fun elements” into a program; and not necessarily replace humans.
