Xiaomi has announced a new 20,000mAh capacity power bank, called the Mi Power Bank 3 Pro, in China that is claimed to have enough juice to charge even premier laptops like the Apple MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. The main highlight of Xiaomi’s Mi Power Bank 3 Pro is that it supports 45W two-way fast charging through its dedicated USB Type-C port. This means you can not only output 45W while charging other devices, you can also input the same amount of power while charging the Mi Power Bank 3 Pro.
The Mi Power Bank 3 Pro, which seems to be an upgrade over Xiaomi’s Mi Power Bank 2 Pro model, comes with as many as three connectivity ports: two USB A and one USB C. While the two USB A ports offer 18W output, the USB C port supports 45W output. The power bank can be used not just to charge smartphones and tablets, it can also be used to charge full-scale laptops. When both the USB A ports are used simultaneously, the output is maxed out at 15W each, according to Xiaomi.
The Mi Power Bank 3 Pro, much like any other new-age Xiaomi power bank, supports pass through charging, which means that it can continue to charge other devices while being charged. It takes 11 hours to fully charge Xiaomi’s new power bank through a standard 10W charger although a 45W fast charger can fill it up in mere 4.5 hours, claims Xiaomi.
The design is pretty reminiscent of Xiaomi’s existing power banks, which means that the Mi Power Bank 3 Pro also comes with a plastic body with a glossy finish. Internally, it boasts of 9 layers of circuit chip protection to stay protected during instances of short circuit.
Xiaomi has launched the Mi Power Bank 3 Pro in China at a price of CNY 199 which roughly translates to Rs 2,019. There is no word if Xiaomi will be bringing the Mi Power Bank 3 Pro to India anytime soon.
