Android Pie rollout for Asus ROG Phone could be imminent, suggests a benchmark listing
When Asus initially launched its ROG phone in India, it was waiting to receive the Android 9.0 Pie update. Now that a new benchmark listing has appeared, we can safely assume that Android Pie rollout for Asus ROG Phone could be around the corner.
According to a new benchmark listing, Asus could be gearing up to release Android Pie software update to Asus ROG gaming smartphone. To recall, Asus unveiled its most-awaited gaming smartphone in India last month that falls under the company's ROG lineup, and the phone seems to have what it takes to stand out in India's gaming smartphones segment, which is currently in its early stage.

A new handset bearing the model number ASUS_Z01QD ha appeared on Geekbench offering benchmark scores and limited hardware specs. The OS mentioned on the list is Android 9.0 Pie. Meaning, Asus could be nearly-done with the development. However, Asus hasn't shared any specific timeline.

In terms of features, Google's latest iteration of the Android operating system has features like adaptive battery, dark mode, app actions, adaptive brightness, slices, accessibility menu, new gesture navigation etc.
As far as specifications of Asus ROG Phone are concerned, it sports a 6-inch 1080p AMOLED screen. It houses 12MP+8MP dual rear cameras and an 8MP selfie camera. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 processor, Adreno 630 GPU for graphics and up to 8 gigs of RAM. Inside is up to 512GB internal storage. Asus ROG Phone packs a 4,000mAh battery.
While smartphones are taken care of by their Zenfone lineup, Asus’s gaming laptops and computers fall under its Republic of Gamers (ROG) moniker. Before introducing the ROG Phone, Asus kept both their smartphones and gaming laptop/desktop computers businesses separate from each other.
Over the past few years, the brand ROG has earned a fairly good name, trust and presence in the market. With the help of ROG Phone accessories, Asus may be trying to fill the gap between these two divisions, which should help gamers get the best possible gaming experience across their range of devices.
