There has been a report that Apple’s most-expensive iPhone XS Max caught fire in owner’s pocket in Ohio, US. Back in November, a Twitter user claimed that the iPhone X exploded after a software update. If the report is to believe, this could be the first ever iPhone XS Max explosion case in the US.

What happened

According to iDrop News, an Ohio man named Josh Hillard claimed that his three-week-old iPhone XS Max caught fire while the handset was in the back pocket of his trouser. As per the report, the incident allegedly took place on December 12.

In his detailed description to the iDrop News, Hillard claimed of noticing a strange smell coming from his iPhone which was kept in his back pocket. Hillard further described of sensing a large amount of heat and burning sensation on his skin.

Aftermath

Hillard described that moment later, he began to notice green and yellow smoke coming from the iPhone, which was later doused using the fire extinguisher.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, as Hillard described in detail, he went to the Apple Store where he was insisted to hand over the phone to the team in order to get the replacement. Hillard, however, kept his melted iPhone with himself. He later contacted the Apple Care Line and received a new phone.

According to a report, Hillard is not happy with the replacement and is expecting further compensation from the company for his damaged clothes, shoes and wireless service. Hillard is also said to be considering legal action against the company as a possibility.
