The CES 2019 has witnessed the rise of everything smart, and following this tradition is smart kitchens which not only integrate Amazon Alexa within but also save users from tedious processes. In this regard, a smart display is said to be custom made for culinary skills was showcased.
Now, this device is branded by Kitchen Aid and its USP is that it serves as a central hub for coordinating all culinary-related activities. In case, you desire to develop a new recipe or use an already existing one, all you need to do would be to just say it and Amazon Alexa should be able to make sense of your commands to throw up the most relevant culinary instructions.
Kitchen Aid states that the smart display would also integrate with smart home systems; which means that there could be potentially high tech everywhere; even within the kitchen. In this regard, it is worth noting that a connected system would undoubtedly ease working load; but the relevance of a high-tech kitchen (technology integrated within almost everything except the food) seemingly needs real-world innovation.
In related “innovations” showcased at the CES 2019, there has been a smart toilet from Kohler that features Amazon Alexa integration along with incorporating lighting effects and audio enhancements. This setup is called the Numi 2.0 and offers aspects viz:
- Water efficiency
- Heated seat
- Personal Cleansing
- Custom-made functionality such as drying
Here, it is also worth noting how Alexa integration fits in within toilets; as far as water efficiency is concerned, it is naturally up to users to maintain these aspects; hence, we think that it may not require a PDA to intervene and dynamically teach users to use water judiciously.
Apart from these, as far as weird gadgets/concepts are concerned, this year’s CES also witnessed Kiki that is an AI-powered robotic pet and an AI-powered suitcase that not only follows its masters; but also tracks them so as to not get lost (humans or AI suitcases?).
