Google Android Q Final Version To Skip This File Share Feature When Released

Google’s Android Q beta which was launched recently is confirmed to come with multiple newer features such as the Focus Mode, Smart Reply to WhatsApp texts, and the dark mode. But apparently, the newer operating system (OS) variant also eliminates a current-gen aspect which is the Android Beam.  

For the uninitiated, Google Beam is a Near Field Communication (NFC) related technology wherein it becomes a lot simpler to share photos, files, videos between two phones. Now, as per a Tech Radar report, Google would eliminate this functionality in Android Q (and potentially in later versions as well) which means that the final public release may not contain Android Beam and there are no alternatives to this feature as well – for those using Android Beam in the earlier case that is.  

At this point in time, it is worth noting that Apple also has an AirDrop feature that lets users instantaneously share all favourite aspects with other “nearby” Apple devices wirelessly.  

In related updates, the Android Q developer preview is now seeding to smartphones such as the likes of OnePlus 6T and the older OnePlus 6 phones, with the newer OnePlus 7 also in line to receive the newer Google firmware variant soon.
