OnePlus 7 Pro users receive unwanted spam notifications as a result of the company's failed internal test

OnePlus apologised on Twitter for "accidentally" sending out unwanted push notifications to OnePlus 7 users worldwide.

OnePlus apologised on Twitter for "accidentally" sending out unwanted push notifications to OnePlus 7 Pro users worldwide. Many OnePlus 7 Pro users reported that they received two spam notifications consisting of a random series of letters on their device. Soon after clueless OnePlus 7 Pro users reported the incident on social media, OnePlus' official global Twitter account acknowledged that the notifications were part of an internal test, and they were accidentally sent out to some OnePlus 7 Pro (REVIEW) users around the world. However, OnePlus did not confirm how many OnePlus 7 Pro users received the notifications. OnePlus said it is currently investigating the error. More details are awaited.

Addressing the issue, this is what OnePlus had to say:

"Numerous OnePlus 7 Pro owners reported that their devices received two spam notifications consisting of a random series of letters. OnePlus has confirmed that the notifications were the result of an internal test and that they were sent out to devices globally. It did not confirm how many devices had been affected, but said that it would share more information soon."

Several OnePlus 7 Pro users posted screenshots on Twitter showing the cryptic notifications. One screenshot consisted of Latin characters while another showed Chinese characters. Upon tapping on the messages, OnePlus device would attempt to open a web browser application leading nowhere. This is how OnePlus users reacted to the incident:
