Oppo ColorOS 7 should be based on Android 10

Not a lot is known about Oppo’s ColorOS 7 for now, but it should ideally be based on Android 10. A series of leaked screenshots have tipped pull-down notification and icon redesign, as well as new animations. The update is also said to bring a new Game Boost mode – although how it’s going to be any different from the current version is unknown. More details are awaited.

The ColorOS 6 update – based on Android 9 Pie - introduced an all-new gradient design and newer fonts, in addition to bringing an app drawer interface to Oppo phones. Much like how it is in iOS, a large chunk of Android-based custom ROMs coming from China feature a springboard of apps and widgets on the home screen. This means all your apps and widgets lie on the home screen itself, which could become chaotic if you use too many apps.

As such, there has been a growing demand from users that brands let them opt for an app drawer, in the in-house ROM itself. It was nice to see Oppo paying heed to this demand. The ColorOS 6 update also brought a borderless design, possibly to enhance user experience. It also brought a new font called Oppo Sans, alongside heaps of AI capabilities. It would be interesting to see what Oppo has in store with ColorOS 7.

Realme phones to get custom ColorOS 7

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has already confirmed that Realme phones will receive a custom version of ColorOS 7 that will be close to stock Android. We don’t know when and we also don’t know which Realme phones will be supported at this point of time though.
