Oppo Reno Ace with 65W fast charging, 90Hz display coming in October
The Reno Ace will join other Reno phones like the Reno 10x Zoom, Reno 2, Reno 2Z and Reno 2F.
The Oppo Reno Ace is coming in October with 65W fast charging and a 90Hz display. While the 90Hz display looks all set to be the next industry standard, 65W fast charging will be a first. No further details have been shared, although it looks like Oppo’s 65W fast charging tech will be an extension of the company’s existing 50W standard seen in the Oppo R17 Pro. Even as rivals max out at 45W.
Reno lineup
The Reno Ace will join other Reno phones like the Reno 10x Zoom, Reno 2, Reno 2Z and Reno 2F. Oppo’s Reno lineup is known for their cameras, so we’re probably looking at some camera-centric innovations as well – Oppo is yet to reveal any of that yet. 65W fast charging and a 90Hz display will alone make the Reno Ace a very compelling product at launch.
Oppo recently launched the Reno 2-series in India. While the Reno 2 is the most premiere offering in the new series, the Reno 2Z and Reno 2F try to bring near similar experiences at even more affordable prices. None of these phones, including the Reno 2, have been designed to replace the Reno 10x Zoom though - that still remains to be Oppo’s flagship offering. Whether or not the Oppo Reno Ace will be successor to the Reno 10x Zoom is something only time will tell.
In related news, Xiaomi has also demoed an even crazier 100W Super Charge Turbo tech (in China) that can apparently top up a 4,000mAh battery phone in little over 15 minutes (in 17 minutes to be precise). For some perspective, Oppo’s 50W (10V/5A) Super VOOC Charging can charge a 3700mAh battery phone to up to 65 per cent in 17 minutes - the tech is already shipping inside a phone called the Oppo R17 Pro. Also, Huawei's 55W SuperCharge is claimed to charge 85 per cent of the Mate X's 4,500mAh battery in 30 minutes - the Mate X isn't available for buying yet. But we may have to wait longer to see it in action since Xiaomi isn't telling if the tech is ready for prime time just yet.
