Oppo spin-off Realme will launch the Realme X2 phone with 64MP quad rear cameras and a 32MP selfie shooter in China on September 24. The phone in question is rumored to be a rebranded Realme XT for the Chinese market, however, some reports also suggest that Realme will launch the Realme XT 730G as the Realme X2 in China. Realme has confirmed that it will launch the Realme XT 730G in India in December.
The main highlight of the Realme X2 will be is its four-camera setup on the rear. The Realme X2, like the Realme XT, will come with a 64MP main camera, and while the resolutions of the other cameras is unknown, there’s a high possibility that we’re looking at an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro lens.
That main camera will use Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor which works on the same principle as its 48MP GM1 and 32MP GD1 sensors - effectively producing sharper, more detailed 16MP photos in tricky and low light, and using software interpolation to produce high resolution 64MP photos as and when required.
The Realme XT is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which is also expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The Realme XT 730G will meanwhile swap the Snapdragon 712 with a gaming-focused Snapdragon 730G. It would be interesting to see which processor makes it way inside the Realme X2.
The Realme XT 730G, that will be launched in India in December, will also support faster 30W VOOC flash charge. The Realme XT, meanwhile, supports 20W VOOC flash charge. Again, it is isn’t known which of the two will be made available in the Realme X2.
Elsewhere, the Realm XT comes with a 6.4-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection up-top and in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. The dual-SIM Realme XT runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 software and packs a 4,000mAh battery. An interesting thing to note here is that the Realme XT comes with a 16MP front camera – the Realme X2 has been confirmed to come with a 32MP front camera.
